“Kindness. The only possible method when dealing with a living creature. You’ll get nowhere with an animal if you use terror, no matter what its level of development may be. That I have maintained, do maintain and always will maintain. People who think you can use terror are quite wrong. No, no, terror is useless, whatever its color – white, red or even brown! Terror completely paralyses the nervous system.”
― Mikhail Bulgakov,
My most favorite author is Mikhail Bulgakov. His “The Master and Margarita” was always my desk book, I believe I have read it at least ten times and never got fed up of it. In my opinion it is a masterpiece which retains so many wise observations and thoughts thus basically one can pull out some quotes from every single page. However today i would like to quote an extract from another book of Mikhail Bulgakov, Heart of a Dog. I fully agree with the author about kindness being the only way of treating a living creature. The main proof of it is a quick positive response from animals and very little babies. It means we are all born to be kind and react immediately to a kind act towards us but while growing up we learn how to manipulate in our own interests. Everyone is able to be kind, important just to want being it. With grown-ups the things are a bit different. Do you notice that quite often the people when treated kindly some time later start acting in an opposite way. They accept it for granted or require even more without giving you back anything good. Recent psychological research by the way has found out that such people just simply envy you being able to do something they were not taught to do. They were taking away the ability to maintain their natural kindness and not educated to keep on lending a helping hand: just a nice supportive word, just a bit of attention to the people around, just not to be too much judgmental, just being able to put yourself in someone`s else shoes would help to make the world a little better. I hope I will be able to teach that to my children.
